Directions to AHR Office

From Portland/Boston:

     Take I-95 north to the Maine Turnpike until you reach Exit 63 at Gray (formerly exit 11). The exit numbers do not go in order but rather match the highway milage on route 95. Be careful around Portland as there is a 195, 295 and 395 that exit. Do not take any of these. At Exit 63 take route 26 north. It is about an hour or a little more from here to Bethel. Continue on route 26 north through Norway-South Paris. From South Paris continue on route 26 north to Bethel (approx. 20 miles). Route 2 and 26 will turn right however you will continue straight ahead onto Main Street. Follow Main Street to the top of the hill and turn left at the 'T' intersection. This is Broad Street. Follow Broad Street past the town common and the Bethel Inn. When Paradise Road turns left continue on to the dead end of Broad Street extension. We are at #66 Broad Street, the only house on the left.

From Connecticut/New York and Points South:

     Take Interstate 91 north from Springfield, MA and follow all the way up through Vermont. Just before St. Johnsbury, Vermont you will exit right as if going South on Interstate 93. You will follow the truck route around St. Johnsbury. Take your first exit onto route 2 east. Follow route 2 east all the way through to Gorham, New Hampshire. Here you will stay on route 2 and continue on to Bethel, Maine. In Bethel take the exit to the right for route 26 south. Immediately at the bottom of the exit ramp take a right onto Church Street and go past Gould Academy. At the top of the hill is an intersection and you will continue straight ahead and the road will change to Broad Street. Drive past the town common and the Bethel Inn. Paradise Road will turn to the left however you will continue straight ahead onto the dead end of Broad Street extension. We are at #66 Broad Street, the only house on the left.

Directions to The River House

From the AHR Office:

     Drive down Broad Street onto Church Street past Gould Academy to route 2. Turn left onto route 2 west and as soon as you go under the overpass take a left onto route 2 east. You will follow route 2 east for about 10 miles and will pass the road to Sunday River and also route 26 north along the way. About 5 miles after route 26 goes north you will come to Gordie Howe's store and Gulf gas station. Just before the store on the left is Howard Pond Road. Continue up Howard Pond Road approx. 1/4 mile to Mooselook Lane (your first left). It is a gravel drive and the property is the first cabin on the left just before the bridge over Howard Pond Stream. You will find a turn around just across the bridge.
Winter Parking
The conditions in winter are variable and space is limited to two cars maximum in all seasons. The drive is down a hill and we suggest smaller cars with winter tires, all wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. Turning around will require multiple turns unless the turn around on the opposite side of the bridge is plowed. Backing across the bridge will give most regular vehicles the head way to make the small hill to the main road.
